Research interests:

- Immunological mechanisms of bilateral vestibulopathy and Cogan's syndrome and the viral pathogenesis of vestibular neuritis

- Vestibular compensation: effects of vestibular exercises and somatosensory substitution

- Interaction between the vestibular system and spatial memory

- High-resolution MRI studies on vestibular neuritis, diffusion-weighted MRI studies on transient global amnesia, fMRI and PET studies on locomotion

- Prevention of post-lumbar puncture headache

- Interaction between the vestibular, ocular motor, and sensorimotor systems during walking and running

- Treatment of vestibular, ocular motor, cerebellar and gait disorders

Research activities:

- Clinical trials: pharmacotherapy of vestibular, ocular motor, cerebellar and other neurodegenerative disorders

- Otolith function in peripheral and central vestibular and cerebellar disorders; studies with vestibular-evoked myogenic potentials

- Evaluation of the central ocular motor and vestibular system in neurodegenerative disorders (e.g. Niemann-Pick Type C)

- Imaging in Menière’s disease

- Animal models to evaluate the mode of actions of aminopyridine, acetyl-DL-leucine and betahistine
